Instructions:
1. Drain the coolant and oil.
2. Remove the valve cover and upper intake manifold.
3. Remove the exhaust manifold.
4. Remove the rocker arms and pushrods.
5. Loosen the head bolts in a criss-cross pattern, a quarter-turn at a time, until they are loose.
6. Clean the mating surface of the cylinder head and the block with a gasket scraper.
7. Apply a thin bead of thread sealant to the head bolts.
8. Install the new head gasket and carefully lower the cylinder head into place.
9. Install the head bolts and finger-tighten them in a criss-cross pattern.
10. Using the torque wrench, tighten the cylinder head bolts to the specified torque. Always refer to the Toyota repair manual for model specific torquing information.
11. Reinstall the rocker arms and pushrods followed by the exhaust manifold.
12. Reinstall the upper intake manifold and the valve cover.
13. Reinstall the oil filter and refill the engine with oil.
14. Reinstall the coolant and top up the radiator.
15. Start the engine and let it run until the thermostat opens and the coolant level drops. Refill coolant as needed.
