2004 Chevrolet Cavalier 2.2L Thermostat Location

1. Open the hood of your vehicle.

2. Locate the thermostat housing. On the 2.2L engine, it is located on the front of the engine, near the top. It is a round, black housing with a single bolt in the center.

3. Remove the bolt from the center of the thermostat housing using a wrench.

4. Lift off the thermostat housing and gasket to reveal the thermostat.

5. Use a pair of pliers or needle nose vise grips to remove the old thermostat from its seat in the housing. Be careful not to damage the gasket.

6. Inspect the old thermostat for damage or wear. If the thermostat is damaged or worn, it should be replaced.

7. Place a new thermostat in the housing, making sure that it is seated properly. The new thermostat should be installed in the same orientation as the old one.

8. Replace the thermostat housing gasket and housing, and then reinstall the bolt. Tighten the bolt securely.

9. Close the hood of your vehicle.

Tips

- If you are having trouble removing the old thermostat, you can try using a little bit of penetrating oil.
