When can you pass a vehicle?

It is generally safe to pass another vehicle when:

1. You are on a road with at least two lanes in each direction. This means that there is a clear lane for you to move into after passing.

2. There is no oncoming traffic. This includes traffic that is stopped at a stoplight or stop sign.

3. The vehicle you are passing is not speeding or otherwise driving erratically. If the vehicle is going too fast or is weaving in and out of lanes, it may be unsafe to pass.

4. You have enough time to safely pass the vehicle. This means that you can accelerate quickly and smoothly, and that you will have enough room to return to your lane before you reach oncoming traffic.

In some cases, it may also be safe to pass a vehicle on a road with only one lane in each direction. However, this is only safe if:

* The road is clear of oncoming traffic for a long distance.

* The vehicle you are passing is going very slowly.

* You can pass the vehicle quickly and smoothly.

If you are not sure whether it is safe to pass a vehicle, it is always best to err on the side of caution and wait until you have a clear opportunity.
