1. Disconnect the battery.
This is a safety precaution to prevent any electrical accidents while you are working on the tachometer cable.
2. Remove the air cleaner assembly.
This will give you access to the tachometer cable.
3. Disconnect the tachometer cable from the tachometer head.
Use a wrench to loosen the nut that holds the cable in place.
4. Disconnect the tachometer cable from the transmission.
Use a wrench to loosen the nut that holds the cable in place.
5. Remove the tachometer cable from the car.
Pull the cable out through the firewall.
6. Measure the old tachometer cable.
You will need to purchase a new cable that is the same length as the old cable.
7. Install the new tachometer cable.
Insert the new cable through the firewall and connect it to the transmission and tachometer head.
8. Tighten the nuts that hold the tachometer cable in place.
9. Reinstall the air cleaner assembly.
10. Connect the battery.
Test the tachometer to make sure that it is working properly.
