Vortec 4.8L V8 and 5.3L V8 engines
- The fuel filter is located on the driver's side of the engine, near the rear of the cylinder head.
- It is a cylindrical-shaped object with two fuel lines connected to it.
- The fuel lines are held in place by spring clamps.
Vortec 6.0L V8 and 6.2L V8 engines
- The fuel filter is located on the passenger's side of the frame rail, near the fuel tank.
- It is a cylindrical-shaped object with two fuel lines connected to it.
- The fuel lines are held in place by quick-connect fittings.
To replace the fuel filter, you will need to:
1. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter.
- Some fuel may spill out, so be sure to have a rag handy.
2. Remove the fuel filter from the vehicle.
3. Install the new fuel filter.
- Be sure to tighten the fuel lines securely.
4. Start the engine and check for leaks.
