Step 2: Safety Precaution
- Engage the parking brake.

Step 3: Draining the Transmission Fluid
- Locate the oil pan drain plug. It is typically located at the bottom of the transmission pan.
- Place an oil drain pan under the drain plug.
- Remove the drain plug using a socket wrench.
- Allow the transmission fluid to drain completely into the pan.
Step 4: Dropping the Transmission Pan
- Remove the transmission pan bolts using a socket wrench.
- Carefully lower the transmission pan and remove it. Be careful not to spill any remaining fluid.
Step 5: Removing the Old Converter
- Locate the torque converter bolts. They are typically located around the center of the converter.
- Remove the torque converter bolts using a socket wrench.
- Carefully slide the old torque converter off the transmission input shaft.
Step 6: Installation of the New Converter
- Before installing the new torque converter make sure the transmission shaft is clean.
- Slide the new torque converter onto the transmission input shaft.
- Insert the torque converter bolts and hand-tighten them.
- Secure the torque converter bolts using a torque wrench to the manufacturer's specifications.
Step 7: Replacing Transmission Pan and Filter
- Clean the transmission pan and filter area.
- Install a new transmission filter and a new filter gasket.
- Install the transmission pan gasket.
- Reinstall the transmission pan and tighten the bolts.
Step 8: Replacing Oil Pan Gasket and Adding Transmission Fluid
- Remove the oil pan gasket and clean the oil pan and mating surfaces.
- Install a new oil pan gasket.
- Reinstall the oil pan and tighten the bolts.
- Add new transmission fluid to the vehicle as specified in the owner's manual.
Step 9: Testing the Transmission
- Start the vehicle and let it run for a few minutes.
- Shift through all gears to check for proper shifting.
- Check the transmission fluid level and adjust if necessary.
Step 10: Final Check-Up
- Recheck for any fluid leaks.
- Test drive the vehicle to ensure that the transmission is operating properly.
