* Differential cover gasket
Instructions
1. Park your Jeep on level ground and set the parking brake.
2. Chock the wheels to prevent the Jeep from rolling.
3. Locate the differential drain plug on the bottom of the differential housing.
4. Place the magnetic drain plug pan under the drain plug.
5. Loosen the drain plug with a 17-mm socket and allow the gear oil to drain into the pan.
6. While the gear oil is draining, clean the drain plug and reinstall it with a new washer.
7. Tighten the drain plug with a 17-mm socket until snug.
8. Locate the differential cover bolts.
9. Remove the differential cover bolts with a 13-mm socket.
10. Remove the differential cover and gasket.
11. Clean the differential cover and gasket mating surfaces with a solvent and allow them to dry.
12. Inspect the differential gears and bearings for wear or damage.
13. If the differential gears or bearings are worn or damaged, replace them as necessary.
14. Apply RTV silicone sealant to the gasket mating surface of the differential cover.
15. Reinstall the differential cover gasket and cover.
16. Tighten the differential cover bolts with a 13-mm socket until snug.
17. Add 2 quarts of SAE 75W-90 GL-4 gear oil to the differential through the fill hole.
18. Check the fluid level of the differential. The fluid level should be between the fill and drain plugs.
19. Reinstall the fill plug with a 10-mm socket.
20. Lower the Jeep from the jack stands.
