1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical sparks from occurring while you are working on the ignition system.
2. Remove the steering wheel. There are two bolts that hold the steering wheel in place. Once the bolts are removed, you can pull the steering wheel off of the shaft.
3. Remove the lock plate. The lock plate is located behind the steering wheel. There are four screws that hold the lock plate in place. Once the screws are removed, you can pull the lock plate off of the column.
4. Remove the ignition switch. The ignition switch is located behind the lock plate. There are two screws that hold the ignition switch in place. Once the screws are removed, you can pull the ignition switch out of the column.
5. Remove the ignition tumbler. The ignition tumbler is located inside the ignition switch. There is a small clip that holds the ignition tumbler in place. Once the clip is released, you can pull the ignition tumbler out of the ignition switch.
Be careful not to damage the ignition tumbler when you are removing it. If the ignition tumbler is damaged, you will not be able to start the truck.
