The bypass hose is a small hose that connects the thermostat housing to the water pump. It is located on the front of the engine, just below the thermostat housing.
Step 2: Disconnect the Bypass Hose
To disconnect the bypass hose, use a pair of pliers to squeeze the hose clamps on each end of the hose. Once the hose clamps are loose, pull the hose off the thermostat housing and water pump.
Step 3: Remove the Bypass Hose
Once the bypass hose is disconnected, you can remove it from the engine bay. To do this, simply pull the hose out of the way.
Step 4: Install the New Bypass Hose
To install the new bypass hose, simply insert it into the engine bay and connect it to the thermostat housing and water pump. Be sure to tighten the hose clamps securely.
Step 5: Fill the Cooling System
Once the new bypass hose is installed, you need to fill the cooling system. To do this, simply add coolant to the radiator until it is full.
Step 6: Start the Engine
Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the coolant throughout the system and help to remove any air pockets.
Step 7: Check the Coolant Level
After the engine has run for a few minutes, check the coolant level in the radiator. If the coolant level is low, add more coolant until it is full.
Step 8: Test the Cooling System
Take the truck for a test drive to make sure that the cooling system is working properly. The temperature gauge should read in the normal operating range.
Tip:
When replacing the bypass hose, it is also a good idea to replace the thermostat. This will help to ensure that the engine is cooling properly.
