How do you change the air conditioner evaporator in 1999 Chevy blazer?

Tools:

* Flat-head screwdriver

* Phillips-head screwdriver

* 1/4" ratchet and socket set

* 5/8" wrench

* 7/8" wrench

* Pliers

* Safety goggles

* Mechanics gloves

Materials:

* New evaporator core

* O-rings (4)

* A/C compressor oil

* R-134A refrigerant

Instructions:

1. Open the hood and remove the air cleaner housing.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable.

3. Remove the A/C compressor mounting bolts and remove the compressor from the vehicle.

4. Remove the expansion valve from the evaporator core.

5. Remove the four bolts holding the evaporator core to the firewall and remove the evaporator core from the vehicle.

6. Clean the evaporator core housing with a vacuum cleaner.

7. Install new O-rings on the evaporator core.

8. Place the evaporator core in the housing and install the four bolts.

9. Reinstall the expansion valve and A/C compressor.

10. Reinstall the air cleaner housing and negative battery cable.

11. Charge the A/C system with refrigerant according to the vehicle manufacturer's specifications.

Tips:

- Be sure to wear safety goggles when working on the A/C system.

- Do not smoke or work near an open flame when working on the A/C system.

- If you are uncomfortable working on the A/C system, it is best to have it serviced by a professional.
