Disconnect the negative battery terminal on the battery to avoid any electrical accidents while working on the ignition switch.
Locate the ignition switch below the steering column.
Remove the screws holding the lower steering column cover in place and detach it.
Identify the wire connectors connected to the ignition switch and disconnect them.
Remove the bolts securing the ignition switch to the steering column.
Remove the ignition switch while simultaneously pressing the release button.
Once removed, you can replace or repair the ignition switch as needed.
