How do you adjust the transmission interlock cable on a 2003 Chevy Malibu?

1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.

2. Shift the transmission into Park and apply the parking brake.

3. Open the hood and locate the transmission interlock cable. It is a thin metal cable that runs from the transmission to the ignition switch.

4. There will be a black plastic housing with a small button on the side of it. Squeeze the button and press the cable into the lock.

5. Push the cable in approximately 1/8 inch. Turn the key to the on position and try to shift out of park. If the transmission shifts out of park the interlock cable is adjusted properly. If it doesn't shift, repeat steps four through six.
