How do you install an ignition switch on a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix?

Tools Needed:

- Phillips-head screwdriver

- Flat-head screwdriver

- 5/8-inch socket and ratchet

- 10mm socket and ratchet

Instructions:

1. Disconnect the battery. This is a safety precaution to prevent any electrical shock.

2. Remove the steering wheel cover. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the cover in place.

3. Remove the ignition switch bezel. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the bezel off of the steering column.

4. Remove the ignition switch mounting screws. Use a 5/8-inch socket and ratchet to remove the two screws that hold the ignition switch in place.

5. Disconnect the ignition switch electrical connector. Use a small flat-head screwdriver to release the lock on the connector and then pull the connector off of the ignition switch.

6. Remove the ignition switch from the steering column. Turn the ignition switch counter-clockwise until it stops, and then pull it out of the steering column.

7. Install the new ignition switch. Insert the new ignition switch into the steering column and turn it clockwise until it locks into place.

8. Reconnect the ignition switch electrical connector. Push the connector onto the ignition switch until it locks into place.

9. Install the ignition switch mounting screws. Use a 5/8-inch socket and ratchet to tighten the two screws that hold the ignition switch in place.

10. Replace the ignition switch bezel. Press the bezel onto the steering column until it snaps into place.

11. Replace the steering wheel cover. Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to install the two screws that hold the cover in place.

12. Reconnect the battery.
