The first thing you should do if your dashboard lights go out is to check the fuse. The fuse for the dashboard lights is located in the fuse box, which is usually under the hood of your car. The fuse box cover will have a diagram that shows you which fuse is for the dashboard lights. If the fuse is blown, replace it with a new fuse of the same amperage.
Step 2: Check the dimmer switch
If the fuse is not blown, the next thing to check is the dimmer switch. The dimmer switch is usually located on the dashboard, near the headlight switch. Turn the dimmer switch all the way up and see if the dashboard lights come on. If they do not, the dimmer switch may be faulty and will need to be replaced.
Step 3: Check the wiring
If the fuse and the dimmer switch are both working properly, the next step is to check the wiring. The wiring for the dashboard lights is located behind the dashboard. You will need to remove the dashboard in order to access the wiring. Once you have accessed the wiring, inspect it for any damage or loose connections. If you find any damaged or loose wires, repair them and see if the dashboard lights come on.
Step 4: Check the light bulbs
If the fuse, dimmer switch, and wiring are all working properly, the last thing to check is the light bulbs. The light bulbs for the dashboard lights are located behind the instrument cluster. You will need to remove the instrument cluster in order to access the light bulbs. Once you have accessed the light bulbs, inspect them for any damage or burn-out. If you find any damaged or burned-out light bulbs, replace them with new light bulbs and see if the dashboard lights come on.
