Required Tools:
* R-134a refrigerant
* AC Manifold Gauge Set(with couplers)
* Safety Glasses
* Gloves
Instructions:
Step 1: Locate the AC charge port.
- Open the hood of your 2005 Kia Sedona.
- On the passenger side of the engine bay, locate the air conditioning charge port. It is a low-pressure port with a blue cap, threaded, and usually located on the side or back of the AC compressor.
- Remove the blue cap from the charge port.
Step 2: Attach the refrigerant can to the manifold gauge set.
* Unscrew the cap on the refrigerant can and attach the can to the manifold gauge set using a 1/4" line.
Step 3: Connect the manifold gauge set to the charge port.
- Connect the blue hose on the manifold gauge set to the AC charge port.
Step 4: Check the refrigerant pressure.
- Turn on the engine and allow it to run for a few minutes with the air conditioner on.
- The pressure reading on the manifold gauge set will increase.
Step 5: Charge the air conditioning system.
- If the pressure reading is below the recommended level (usually between 30 to 40 PSI for Sedona), slowly open the valve on the refrigerant can to allow refrigerant to flow into the system.
- Continue charging the system until the pressure reading reaches the recommended level.
Step 6: Close the refrigerant can and disconnect the manifold gauge set.
- Close the valve on the refrigerant can.
- Disconnect the manifold gauge set from the charge port and the refrigerant can.
- Replace the cap on the refrigerant can and then put away the tools.
Step 7: Verify that the air conditioner is working properly.
- Turn on the air conditioner and check that it is blowing cold air.
