How do you change 2001 infinity i30 alternator?

Tools

- 10mm and 14mm socket wrenches

- Ratchet

- Extension

- Flat head screwdriver

- Pliers

Materials

- New alternator

- Serpentine belt

Instructions

1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent the car from starting while you're working on it.

2. Remove the air intake hose. This will give you access to the alternator.

3. Remove the serpentine belt. Use the 14mm socket wrench to loosen the tensioner pulley and then slide the belt off of the pulleys.

4. Remove the alternator mounting bolts. Use the 14mm socket wrench to remove the two bolts that hold the alternator in place.

5. Disconnect the electrical connector from the alternator. Use the flathead screwdriver to release the connector and then pull it off.

6. Remove the alternator. Lift the alternator out of the engine bay. Be careful not to drop it.

7. Installation is the reverse of removal. Start by installing the new alternator. Finger-tighten the mounting bolts but don't fully tighten them yet.

8. Connect the electrical connector to the alternator.

9. Slide the serpentine belt back onto the pulleys and then re-tighten the tensioner pulley.

10. Install the air intake hose.

11. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

12. Start the car and check that the alternator is working properly. The battery light should go out after a few seconds and the voltage should be between 13 and 14 volts.
