Where does the transmission fluid go on a 1999 Subaru Outback?

Step 1: Gather the necessary materials.

You will need the following:

* New transmission fluid (use the type recommended in your owner's manual)

* A funnel

* A wrench

* A rag

* A drain pan

Step 2: Prepare the car.

Park the car on a level surface. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. Engage the parking brake.

Step 3: Locate the transmission fluid drain plug.

The drain plug is located on the bottom of the transmission pan. It is usually a 17mm bolt.

Remove the drain plug. Be careful not to drop the plug into the drain pan. Allow all of the fluid to drain from the transmission.

Replace the drain plug.

Step 4: Locate the transmission fluid fill plug.

The fill plug is located on the side of the transmission. It is usually a 17mm bolt.

Remove the fill plug. Be careful not to drop the plug into the transmission.

Insert the funnel into the fill hole.

Step 5: Add new transmission fluid.

Add new transmission fluid until it starts to drip out of the fill hole. Replace the fill plug.

Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check the transmission fluid level again and add more fluid if necessary.

Step 6: Dispose of the old transmission fluid.

Dispose of the old transmission fluid properly. You can take it to a recycling center or auto parts store.
