Ensure the vehicle is parked on level ground and the engine is turned off.
Open the hood and locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually marked with a bright red or orange handle and is located near the back of the engine bay.
Pull the dipstick out of the transmission and wipe it clean with a clean cloth or rag.
Reinsert the dipstick fully into the transmission and pull it out again.
Check the fluid level on the dipstick. It should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
If the fluid level is low, add enough transmission fluid to bring it up to the "FULL" mark. Use only the type of transmission fluid recommended in the owner's manual.
Replace the dipstick and close the hood.
It's important to check the transmission fluid regularly to ensure it is at the proper level and to prevent transmission problems.
