1. Park your Pontiac Montana on a level surface. Engage the parking brake.
2. Locate the oil pan drain plug. The drain plug is located on the bottom of the oil pan. It is typically a 17mm bolt.
3. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug. Make sure the pan is large enough to catch all of the oil that will drain out.
4. Loosen the drain plug. Use the wrench to loosen the drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.
5. Allow the oil to drain. Allow all of the oil to drain out of the oil pan. This may take several minutes.
6. Replace the drain plug. Once all of the oil has drained out, replace the drain plug. Tighten the drain plug until it is snug.
7. Locate the oil filter. The oil filter is located on the top of the engine. It is usually a cylindrical-shaped object with a black cap.
8. Remove the oil filter. Use the oil filter wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
9. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter. This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.
10. Screw on the new oil filter. Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug. Do not over-tighten the oil filter.
11. Add new oil to the engine. Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine. Refer to your vehicle's owner's manual for the correct amount of oil.
12. Check the oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
14. Check for leaks. Look under the vehicle for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
