1. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels.
This will help to prevent the vehicle from rolling.
2. Disconnect the battery.
This will help to prevent any electrical sparks from accidentally starting the engine.
3. Raise the truck.
This can be done with a jack, jack stands, or a car lift.
4. Find the driveshaft.
The driveshaft is the metal shaft that runs from the transmission to the differential.
5. Locate the U-joints.
The U-joints are the joints that connect the driveshaft to the transmission and differential.
6. Remove the U-bolts.
The U-bolts are the bolts that hold the U-joints in place.
7. Slide the driveshaft out of the transmission and differential.
Be careful not to drop the driveshaft.
8. Lower the truck.
9. Reconnect the battery and lower the vehicle.
The driveshaft is now disconnected from the transmission and differential.
