Tools and Materials Needed:
- Socket wrench
- Spark plug wrench
- Long extension
- New spark plugs (if necessary)
Instructions:
1. Open the hood of your vehicle and disconnect the negative battery terminal to avoid any electrical accidents.
2. Remove the plastic engine cover to access the spark plug area.
3. Use a spark plug wrench with an extension to reach back spark plugs. The back spark plugs are located on the back side of the engine and they are harder to reach compared to the front ones.
4. Using the wrench and extension, loosen and remove the old spark plugs. Be careful not to drop the spark plugs into the engine compartment.
5. If necessary, replace the old spark plugs with new ones by hand so you don’t damage the insulator, then tighten them using the spark plug wrench. Make sure to tighten them according to the specified torque in your vehicle’s manual to avoid any damage.
6. Reattach the ignition coils, battery terminal, and any covers or components that were removed during the process.
7. Once you are done, reconnect the negative battery terminal, close the hood and you should have successfully replaced the back spark plugs.
