1990 Toyota supercab Pickup starter removal?

Here are the steps on removing a starter from a 1990 Toyota supercab pickup:

Tools Needed:

- Ratchet

- 14mm Socket

- 17mm Socket

- Short Extension

- Long Extension

- 3/8" Universal Joint

- Disconnect the negative terminal from the battery.

1. Raise the front of the truck and support it on jack stands. Ensure the truck is stable before continuing.

2. Locate the starter on the passenger side of the engine, near the bottom. It is a cylindrical-shaped component with electrical connections on one end.

3. Disconnect the electrical connections from the starter. There will be two or three wires connected to the starter. Use the 10mm socket to remove the nuts holding the wires in place, and then disconnect the wires.

4. Remove the starter mounting bolts. There are two or three bolts that hold the starter in place. Use the 14mm and 17mm socket, and long and short extensions, as necessary, to reach the bolts and remove them.

5. Remove the starter. Once the starter mounting bolts are removed, the starter can be pulled out of the engine compartment. Be careful not to drop it.

6. Inspect the starter. Once the starter is removed, inspect it for damage or wear. If the starter is damaged, it should be replaced.

7. Install the new starter. If the starter is good, or you have a new one, you can now install it. Simply reverse the steps listed above. When reinstalling the starter, be sure to tighten the bolts securely.

8. Reconnect the battery. Once the starter is installed, reconnect the negative battery cable and lower the truck.
