1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent you from accidentally starting the engine while you're working on the starter.
2. Remove the air intake hose. This will give you more room to work.
3. Locate the starter. It's located on the passenger side of the engine, just below the exhaust manifold.
4. Remove the starter bolts. There are two bolts that hold the starter in place.
5. Pull the starter out of the engine. Be careful not to drop the starter.
6. Replace the starter gasket. If the starter gasket is damaged, replace it with a new one.
7. Reinstall the starter. Insert the starter into the engine and align the bolt holes.
8. Install the starter bolts. Tighten the starter bolts until they're snug.
9. Reconnect the air intake hose.
10. Reconnect the battery.
