1. Listen for the pump. When you turn the ignition key to the "ON" position, you should hear a buzzing noise from the fuel pump. This noise should last for a few seconds. If you don't hear a buzzing noise, the fuel pump may not be working.
2. Check the fuel pressure. You can check the fuel pressure by using a fuel pressure gauge. Connect the gauge to the fuel line and turn the ignition key to the "ON" position. The fuel pressure should be between 30 and 40 psi. If the fuel pressure is too low, the fuel pump may not be working properly.
3. Check the fuel flow. You can check the fuel flow by disconnecting the fuel line from the carburetor and turning the ignition key to the "ON" position. Fuel should flow out of the fuel line in a steady stream. If the fuel flow is weak or nonexistent, the fuel pump may not be working properly.
If you suspect that the fuel pump is not working, you should have it tested by a qualified mechanic.
