How do you take off a suzuki samurai convertible top?

To remove a convertible top from a Suzuki Samurai, gather the necessary tools including:

- Phillips head screwdriver

- Allen key

- Wrench

- Scissors

- Pliers

- Tape Measure

- Rags

- Box Cutter

- Socket Wrench Set

1. Pull the top up to its limit so that the latches are visible.

- Start by opening the vehicle’s doors.

- Reach into the area behind the rear seats and locate the two black latches.

- Push inwards on the latches and allow the top to rise completely.

2. Remove the header and window surrounds.

- Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the header in place.

- Remove the header completely by pulling it upwards and set it aside.

- Remove the left and right window surrounds in a similar manner, setting aside any screws and/or caps that have been removed.

3. Remove the side rails and latches.

- Use a wrench and Allen key to loosen the bolts and latches on either side of the top

- Remove them completely and set aside.

4. Remove the back window and frame.

- Open the rear window in the convertible roof.

- Unzip and remove the window by detaching it from the fabric

- Remove the plastic frames by pressing down on the top of the frame while gripping its bottom, popping the frame out of place.

5. Release and unbutton the hood lining from the frame.

- Release and unbutton the hood lining from the frame.

- Remove the lining from the roof completely.

6. Remove the top bolts and brackets

- Remove the remaining bolts that hold the frame to the vehicle.

- Remove the brackets by removing their bolts and lifting them off of the frame rods.

7. Fold and unbolt the top fabric.

- Fold the top fabric to reveal the underside of the convertible roof’s fabric and frame assembly.

- Locate and remove the four bolts holding the fabric in place.

8. Remove the fabric and release the straps

- Completely remove the fabric from the frame.

- Release all of the straps holding the frame rods to the vehicle’s frame.

9. Remove the frame rods

- Remove all frame rods from the vehicle, carefully detaching any remaining straps on the rear bow of the frame (if applicable to the model).

This should remove your Suzuki Samurai convertible top.
