Tools Required:
- Original working key
- New (blank) transponder key
- Toyota Techstream diagnostic tool (or equivalent)
Programming Steps:
1. Insert the original working key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position without starting the engine. Leave it in this position.
2. Connect the Toyota Techstream diagnostic tool or a compatible scan tool to the vehicle's OBD-II port.
3. Navigate through the scan tool menus to find the "Immobilizer Programming" or "Key Programming" option.
4. Follow the prompts on the scan tool to enter the vehicle's identification number (VIN) and other necessary information.
5. Select the option to "Add New Key" or "Program New Key."
6. Insert the new (blank) transponder key into the ignition without turning it. Leave it in this position.
7. Follow the scan tool instructions to initiate the key programming process. This may involve turning the ignition on and off, or pressing specific buttons on the key fob.
8. Once the programming process is complete, the scan tool will display a confirmation message.
9. Remove both the original working key and the new programmed key from the ignition.
It's important to note that if you do not have access to the appropriate programming equipment, it may not be possible to program a transponder key yourself. In such cases, it is advisable to consult with a professional automotive locksmith or a Toyota dealership for assistance.
