Where is the fuel filter located and how do you replace it on a 1991 Toyota Corolla?

Fuel Filter Location

The fuel filter on a 1991 Toyota Corolla is located underneath the vehicle, near the fuel tank. It is a cylindrical-shaped component with two fuel lines connected to it. Fuel flows through the filter to remove contaminants before it enters the engine.

Fuel Filter Replacement Steps:

1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely.

2. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels.

3. Locate the fuel filter under the vehicle, near the fuel tank.

4. Disconnect the fuel lines from the fuel filter by carefully prying off the clips that secure them. Be prepared for some fuel to spill, so have a rag or container ready.

5. Unscrew the fuel filter from the fuel line using a wrench.

6. Apply a small amount of petroleum jelly or liquid sealant to the threads of the new fuel filter.

7. Screw the new fuel filter into the fuel line until it is snug.

8. Re-connect the fuel lines to the fuel filter and secure them with the clips.

9. Start the engine and check for leaks. If there are no leaks, the fuel filter has been successfully replaced.

Note: It is recommended to replace the fuel filter every 15,000 miles or according to the vehicle's maintenance schedule.
