How do you change a high mounted stoplight on Toyota Avalon 1999?

To change a high-mounted stoplight on a 1999 Toyota Avalon, follow these steps:

1. Gather the necessary tools and parts.

You will need:

- A Phillips head screwdriver

- A flat head screwdriver

- A new high-mounted stoplight assembly (Toyota part number 81551-01040)

2. Open the trunk.

3. Locate the high-mounted stoplight assembly.

It is located at the top of the rear windshield, just below the spoiler.

4. Remove the old high-mounted stoplight assembly.

Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry off the plastic cover that covers the screws that hold the stoplight assembly in place. Remove the screws with the Phillips head screwdriver and then pull the stoplight assembly out of the mounting bracket.

5. Disconnect the electrical connector.

There is one electrical connector that plugs into the back of the stoplight assembly. Press the release tab on the connector and pull it apart.

6. Install the new high-mounted stoplight assembly.

Plug the electrical connector into the back of the new stoplight assembly and then insert the assembly into the mounting bracket. Secure it with the screws and then replace the plastic cover.

7. Test the new high-mounted stoplight assembly.

Press the brake pedal and make sure that the new stoplight assembly lights up.
