Tools and Materials Needed
* New water pump
* Water pump gasket
* Thermostat gasket
* Coolant
* Rags
* Wrench set
* Socket set
* Screwdriver
* Pliers
* Funnel
* Drain pan
Instructions
1. Disconnect Battery
1. Disconnect Negative terminal
2. Drain the Coolant
1. Open the radiator draincock at the bottom of the radiator to allow the coolant to drain into a drain pan.
3. Remove the Water Pump
1. Remove the serpentine belt.
2. Remove the bolts holding the water pump to the engine block.
3. Carefully pry the water pump away from the engine block, being careful not to damage the gasket surface.
4. Clean the gasket surface of the engine block and the water pump.
4. Install the New Water Pump
1. Apply a thin coat of gasket sealant to the gasket surface of the water pump.
2. Position the new water pump on the engine block and install the bolts.
3. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
4. Reattach serpentine belt
5. Refill the Coolant
1. Close the radiator draincock and refill the radiator with coolant.
2. Run the engine until it reaches operating temperature and check for leaks.
3. Replace the drain pan and add more coolant if necessary.
6. Reconnect the Battery
1. Reinstall the Negative terminal.
7. Test drive the vehicle and verify that the water pump is functioning properly.
