1. Locate the engine bay. Open the hood of your Civic and locate the engine compartment.
2. Identify the transmission housing. The transmission housing is located at the front of the engine and slightly below it.
3. Look for the starter. The starter is a cylindrical component located near the bottom of the transmission housing. It is often black in color and has a thick electrical wire connected to it.
