1. Open the hood of the car.
2. Locate the engine. It is typically covered by a black or gray plastic cover.
3. Remove the engine cover by unlatching the clips or unscrewing the bolts that hold it in place.
4. The spark plugs are located on the top of the engine. They are cylindrical in shape with a porcelain center electrode.
5. There are four spark plugs on a 1998 Toyota Camry. They are arranged in a line, with two spark plugs on each side of the engine.
6. To remove a spark plug, use a spark plug wrench to turn the spark plug counterclockwise until it loosens.
7. Be careful not to drop the spark plug into the engine.
8. Once the spark plug is removed, you can inspect it for wear or damage.
9. Replace the spark plug if necessary, then reinstall the engine cover.
