- Spark plug socket wrench
- Extension bar
- Spark plugs
- Screwdriver
- Gap gauge
Instructions:
1. Open the hood of your car and locate the spark plugs. They are located on the top of the engine, near the front.
2. Disconnect the spark plug wires by pulling them straight up off of the spark plugs. There may be a small retainer that holds the wires in place; use a screwdriver to pry it up.
3. Use a spark plug socket wrench with an extension bar to remove the spark plugs. Be careful not to drop the spark plugs into the engine.
4. Check the gap on the new spark plugs. The gap should be between 0.028 inches (0.7 mm) and 0.031 inches (0.8 mm). Use a gap gauge to measure the gap and adjust it as needed by carefully bending the outer electrode.
5. Screw the new spark plugs into the engine by hand until they are snug. Then, use the spark plug socket wrench to tighten them an additional 1/4 turn.
6. Reattach the spark plug wires to the spark plugs. Make sure that the wires are pushed all the way on.
7. Start the engine and check for any leaks. If there are no leaks, you have successfully changed the spark plugs on your 1995 Honda Civic LX.
