Step 2: Put the car in neutral (for manual transmission) or park (for automatic transmission).
Step 3: Pop the hood and disconnect the negative terminal of the battery. This will disable the car's electronic systems, including the automatic handbrake.
Step 4: Find the manual release lever for the automatic handbrake. It is usually located near the base of the centre console.
Step 5: Pull up on the manual release lever to release the automatic handbrake.
Step 6: Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
Step 7: Start the car and check that the automatic handbrake is disengaged.
