1. Open the hood.
2. Locate the engine block. The engine block is the large metal part in the center of the engine compartment.
3. Find the alternator bracket. The alternator bracket is a metal piece that connects the alternator to the engine block.
4. Look for the alternator. The alternator is a cylindrical-shaped object with a pulley on the end of it.
5. The voltage regulator and brushes and usually built into the main housing.
