- New transmission fluid (ATF-Z1) - 3.1 quarts
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
- Safety glasses
Procedure
1. Park your car on a level surface and turn off the engine.
Allow the engine to cool down completely before you begin working.
2. Locate the transmission drain plug.
On the 2002 Honda Accord, it is located on the bottom of the transmission pan, towards the rear of the vehicle.
3. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug.
Make sure the pan is large enough to catch all of the fluid that will drain out.
4. Loosen the drain plug using the wrench.
Be careful not to drop the bolt into the drain pan.
5. Allow all of the fluid to drain out of the transmission.
This may take a few minutes.
6. Replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
7. Locate the transmission fluid fill plug.
On the 2002 Honda Accord, it is located on the top of the transmission, towards the front of the vehicle.
8. Remove the fill plug using the wrench.
9. Insert the funnel into the fill hole.
10. Add new transmission fluid to the transmission.
Use the funnel to add 3.1 quarts of ATF-Z1 fluid.
11. Replace the fill plug and tighten it securely.
12. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
This will circulate the new fluid throughout the transmission.
13. Check the transmission fluid level.
The fluid level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the transmission fluid dipstick.
