2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Open the hood of your car.
4. Locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually located near the back of the engine compartment, near the transmission.
5. Pull the dipstick out of the transmission and wipe it clean with a rag.
6. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission.
7. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level. The fluid should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
8. If the fluid level is low, add transmission fluid to the transmission. Be sure to use the type of transmission fluid that is recommended for your car.
9. Reinsert the dipstick and check the fluid level again.
10. Repeat steps 6-9 until the fluid level is correct.
