- A Phillips head screwdriver
- A flat head screwdriver
- A 10mm wrench
Step 1: Disconnect the negative battery cable
- Find the negative battery terminal. It is the black, round post with the negative (-) sign on it.
- Use the 10mm wrench to loosen the nut connecting the negative battery cable to the terminal.
- Once the nut is loose remove the negative battery cable from the terminal.
Step 2: Disconnect the hold down clamp
- Locate the battery hold-down clamp. It is a black, plastic clamp located on the top of the battery.
- Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws that secure the hold-down clamp to the battery.
- Once the screws are removed, lift the hold-down clamp off of the battery.
Step 3: Remove the battery from the vehicle
- Lift the battery straight up to remove it from the vehicle.
- Be careful not to spill any battery acid.
To reinstall the battery:
1. Place the battery in the vehicle.
2. Secure the hold-down bracket with screws you removed in step 2.
3. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the terminal.
4. Tighten the nut on the negative battery cable until it is snug.
