1. Disconnect the battery: Before starting any electrical work, disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent any electrical accidents.
2. Locate the starter relay: The starter relay is usually located in the engine bay, near the battery. It is a small, black box with several wires connected to it.
3. Remove the wires: Disconnect the wires that are connected to the starter relay. Make sure to label each wire so that you know where it goes when you reinstall the relay.
4. Remove the mounting bolts: There will be one or two bolts that hold the starter relay in place. Remove these bolts using a wrench.
5. Remove the relay: Once the bolts are removed, you can lift the starter relay out of its housing.
6. Install the new relay: If you are replacing the starter relay, insert the new relay into the housing and secure it with the mounting bolts.
7. Reconnect the wires: Connect the wires that you disconnected in step 3 to the new relay. Make sure that each wire is connected to the correct terminal.
8. Reconnect the battery: Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery to restore power to the vehicle.
9. Test the starter: Start the engine to make sure that the starter relay is working properly.
