1. Turn off the engine.
2. Locate the diagnostic link connector (DLC) under the dashboard, usually near the steering column.
3. Connect a scan tool or code reader to the DLC.
4. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
5. On the scan tool or code reader, select the option to read trouble codes.
6. The scan tool or code reader will display any stored trouble codes.
7. Once the trouble codes have been displayed, select the option to clear the codes.
8. The scan tool or code reader will clear the trouble codes and the check light should turn off.
9. Turn off the ignition and disconnect the scan tool or code reader.
10. Start the engine and verify that the check light is off.
If the check light does not turn off, there may be a more serious issue with the vehicle and you should have it diagnosed by a qualified mechanic.
