A power capacitor bank is used in car stereos to:
- Store electrical energy, which can then be used to supply power to the amplifiers and other components of the stereo system
- Help to maintain a consistent voltage level in the electrical system, which can improve the performance of the stereo system
- Reduce the amount of electrical noise in the system, which can lead to improved sound quality
- Power caps (also known as capacitors or power capacitors) are used in conjunction with the alternator and battery to provide and stabilize power to and for your sound system. In a typical car audio configuration, the alternator and battery are able to provide the power needed to operate your factory sound system, but when a high-powered aftermarket sound system is added, these factory components may not be enough. Power caps help alleviate this problem by storing electrical energy and then releasing it on demand for use by the amps in your sound system. This can be especially useful when the bass is turned up or multiple amps are running simultaneously.
