How do you know if it is the alternator out on a car?

There are a few ways to tell if the alternator is out on your car.

- One of the most obvious ways to check is to look at your car's dashboard. If the "battery" or "alternator" light is on, it could indicate that your alternator is not working properly.

- Another way to check your alternator is to use a multimeter. With the engine running and lights turned on, connect the positive probe to the battery's positive terminal and the negative probe to the negative terminal. The voltage reading should be between 13.5 and 14.5 volts. If it's lower than that, your alternator may be faulty.

- You can also check the battery with a multimeter to see if it's charging properly. Connect the red probe of the multimeter to the battery's positive terminal and the black probe to the negative terminal. The voltage should rise when the car is started. If it doesn't, your alternator may be out.

- Finally, you can also check the drive belt. If it is loose or frayed, this could also cause the alternator to stop working.

If you're still not sure if your alternator is out, it's best to take your car to a mechanic for a diagnosis.
