To add fluid to the transmission, follow these steps:
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood and locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually near the back of the engine compartment and has a red handle.
3. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
4. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission until it is fully seated.
5. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level. The fluid level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
6. If the fluid level is low, add enough fluid to bring it up to the "FULL" mark. Be sure to use the correct type of fluid (Dexron® III).
7. Replace the dipstick and close the hood.
Note: It is important to check the transmission fluid level regularly and to add fluid as needed. Low transmission fluid can cause the transmission to overheat and fail.
