1. Make sure the car is parked on a level surface.
2. Turn on the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
3. Push down on the brake pedal and place the transmission in “PARK.”
4. Locate the transmission dipstick which is typically a bright red or orange loop located in the engine bay towards the back, usually closer to the driver's side.
5. Pull the dipstick out and wipe it clean with a rag.
6. Reinsert the dipstick all the way back into the transmission.
7. Pull the dipstick out again and check the fluid level on it. The fluid level should be between the “FULL” and “ADD” marks on the dipstick.
8. If the fluid level is low, you will need to add transmission fluid.
9. Add fluid until it reaches the “FULL” mark.
10. Replace the dipstick and close the hood.
11. Restart the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
12. Recheck the transmission fluid level to make sure it is full.
