1. Park the vehicle in a safe location and turn off the engine.

2. Locate the brake switch. It is usually located under the dashboard, near the brake pedal.

3. Disconnect the negative battery cable. This will prevent any accidental electrical shocks.

4. Use a wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the brake switch in place.

5. Pull the brake switch out of the mounting bracket.

6. Inspect the brake switch for damage. If the switch is damaged, it must be replaced.

7. Install the new brake switch in the mounting bracket.

8. Tighten the nuts that hold the brake switch in place.

9. Reconnect the negative battery cable.

10. Test the brake switch by pressing the brake pedal. The brake lights should come on when the pedal is pressed.

If the brake lights do not come on when the pedal is pressed, the brake switch may be installed incorrectly. Re-check the installation and make sure that the switch is properly connected.
