1. Park the vehicle in a safe location and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood of the vehicle.
3. Locate the battery, which is typically in the engine compartment on the driver's side.
4. Disconnect the negative (black) battery cable by loosening the nut or bolt that holds it in place. Be careful not to touch the positive (red) battery cable with the wrench or any other metal object, as this could create a spark and cause an explosion.
5. Disconnect the positive (red) battery cable.
6. Remove the battery hold-down bracket by loosening the bolts or nuts that hold it in place.
7. Carefully lift the battery out of the vehicle. Be careful not to drop the battery, as it is heavy and could cause injury.
8. Dispose of the old battery properly at a recycling center.
9. Install the new battery by reversing the steps above. Be sure to connect the positive (red) battery cable first, followed by the negative (black) battery cable.
10. Tighten the nuts or bolts that hold the battery hold-down bracket in place.
11. Close the hood of the vehicle.
