How do you change a starter on Lincoln town car?

Tools and Materials:

- New starter

- Socket set

- Wrench set

- Screwdriver

- Pliers

- Safety glasses

- Gloves

- Jack and jack stands

- Jumper cables

Instructions:

1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.

2. Open the hood of your car. Locate the starter solenoid, which is usually a small black box with two large electrical terminals and one smaller terminal.

3. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will help to prevent any accidental electrical shocks.

4. Remove the starter solenoid wires. Use a wrench or pliers to loosen the nuts or bolts that hold the wires in place.

5. Remove the starter mounting bolts. There are usually two or three bolts that hold the starter in place. Use a socket set to loosen the bolts and remove them.

6. Remove the starter from the car. Gently pry the starter out of its mounting location and set it aside.

7. Install the new starter. Insert the new starter into its mounting location and secure it with the mounting bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.

8. Reconnect the starter solenoid wires. Attach the positive wire to the positive terminal, and the ground wire to the negative terminal. Tighten the nuts or bolts until they are secure.

9. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.

10. Test the starter. Start your car and listen for any unusual noises. If the starter is working properly, the car will start without any issues.

11. Lower the car off of the jack stands and close the hood.

Tips:

- If you are not comfortable working on your own car, you can have a qualified mechanic perform the starter replacement for you.

- Be sure to purchase a new starter that is specific for your car model and year.

- If you drop any bolts or nuts, be sure to retrieve them before lowering the car off of the jack stands.
