How can you tell when a new auto battery was made?
Look for the date code that is usually stamped on the battery casing. Most auto batteries follow the universal battery date code used also in Europe. This date code is typically a series of numbers and letters. The first two digits represent the year, the second two represent the week of the year, and the last digit or letter indicates the plant where the battery was manufactured. For example, a date code of "1812C" would mean the battery was made in the 12th week of 2018 at plant C.
