Why wont your car start after running out of gas if it has in now?

Your car may not start after running out of gas and then being refueled for a few reasons:

1. Vapor Lock: When you run out of gas, air can enter the fuel lines and create a vapor lock. This can prevent fuel from reaching the engine, even though there is gas in the tank. To fix this, you may need to bleed the fuel line by turning the key to the "on" position (without starting the engine) for a few seconds several times. This will allow the air to escape and the fuel to flow freely again.

2. Clogged Fuel Filter: Running out of gas can sometimes dislodge dirt and debris in the gas tank, which can clog the fuel filter. A clogged fuel filter can restrict fuel flow and prevent the engine from starting. If this is the case, you may need to replace the fuel filter.

3. Faulty Fuel Pump: In some cases, running out of gas can damage the fuel pump. A damaged fuel pump cannot provide enough pressure to deliver fuel to the engine, which will prevent it from starting. If this is the case, you may need to replace the fuel pump.

4. Damaged Fuel Injectors: Running out of gas can also cause damage to the fuel injectors. Damaged fuel injectors cannot properly deliver fuel to the engine, which will prevent it from starting. If this is the case, you may need to replace the fuel injectors.

If you are unable to start your car after running out of gas, it is best to have it inspected by a qualified mechanic to determine the cause and have it repaired as necessary.
