How do you change fuel filter on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am?

Tools and Materials:

- New Fuel Filter

- Fuel Line Wrench

-Phillips Screwdriver

- Flat-head Screwdriver

- Safety glasses

- Gloves

- Rags

- Fuel injector cleaner

Steps:

1.) Park your car in a safe location and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely before starting any work. Engage the parking brake.

2.) Locate the fuel filter. The fuel filter on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Am is located under the car, near the fuel tank. It is a cylindrical object with two fuel lines connected to it.

3.) Place a rag underneath the fuel filter to catch any spilled fuel.

4.) Use the fuel line wrench to loosen the fuel lines, using a rag/towel to absorb the dripping fuel. You may need to use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the fuel line clamps.

5.) Remove the old fuel filter by unscrewing it from the fuel lines.

6.) Inspect the old fuel filter for dirt or debris. If the filter is dirty, it is important to replace it.

7.) Install the new fuel filter. Screw the new fuel filter into the fuel lines until it is snug. Be careful not to over-tighten the fuel filter.

8.) Reinstall the fuel line clamps. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry open the fuel line clamps and slide them over the fuel lines. Use the fuel line wrench to tighten the clamps.

9.) Start the engine and check for leaks. If there are no leaks, the fuel filter has been successfully replaced.

10.) Add a fuel injector cleaner to the fuel tank. This will help to clean the fuel injectors and keep the fuel system running smoothly.
