* A 1/2-inch drive ratchet
* A 15/16-inch socket
* A puller tool
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
This is important to do to avoid any electrical accidents while working on the power steering pump.
2. Locate the power steering pulley.
The pulley is located on the front of the power steering pump, just below the reservoir.
3. Loosen the power steering pump pulley bolt.
Use the 1/2-inch drive ratchet and the 15/16-inch socket to loosen the bolt. Do not remove the bolt completely.
4. Attach the puller tool to the pulley.
The puller tool will consist of a threaded rod, a washer, and a nut. Screw the threaded rod into the pulley until it is snug. Then, place the washer over the threaded rod and secure it with the nut.
5. Tighten the nut on the puller tool.
This will cause the pulley to start to come off of the pump. Continue to tighten the nut until the pulley is completely removed.
6. Remove the puller tool.
Once the pulley is removed, you can remove the puller tool.
7. Reinstall the power steering pump pulley.
To reinstall the pulley, simply reverse the steps above. Make sure to tighten the pulley bolt to the specified torque.
8. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
Once you have reinstalled the pulley, you can reconnect the negative battery cable.
